Jay Lohse
Jay founded Barnes Evans & Lohse LLC to create a legal services platform that allows him to provide clients with top flight legal representation for commercial real estate transactions at a realistic price point, while also allowing him to pursue pro bono and board work in the community that he lives. Jay strives to provide clients with practical advice and realistic solutions to complex problems that arise in a wide range of real estate transactions. Jay has significant experience representing various clients with acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, joint ventures and financing of real estate throughout the United States.
Jay’s representative clients range from the wireless communications division of a Fortune 50 company, to a privately owned real estate investment firm with investments in properties throughout the United States, to a privately owned entity formed to own, redevelop and operate a 3,000+ acre site as a major East Coast distribution hub.
Prior to founding Barnes Evans & Lohse LLC, Jay had successfully launched his own firm in 2013 after working from 2005 to 2013 as an integral part of the real estate group of Venable LLP’s Baltimore office (which is an Am Law 100 firm). At Venable LLP Jay represented various corporate and institutional clients in connection with their real estate transactions.
Jay received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2005, and his B.S. in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Florida in 1999. In between law school and college he pursued a career in competitive golf while maintaining his amateur status, competing on various mini-tours from 1999 to 2001.
Jay has served on the Boards of The Children’s Scholarship Fund, and the Episcopal Community Services of Maryland [as Vice Chair].
Jay lives with his wonderful wife and three amazing daughters in Towson, Maryland.
Jay is admitted to practice law in Maryland.
